Growing Up
A child sees wonders in an adult's world.
Taller, stronger and free to do what they want.
The constrained mind picture adulthood as their dreamworld,
Losing sight of their childhood, to grow up, their days they count.
Little do the little ones realize,
That growing up is more of a reality than a fantasy,
That the world they idealize
Is the same as that of a grown-ups fantasy.
Little do the little ones realize,
That the 'adventures' the grown-ups have in movies
Is nothing more than entertainment lies,
While an adult's adventures in reality are duties and duties.
Little do the little ones realize,
That every adult longs to turn back time,
That they look at children with envious eyes,
Wishing to get back their childhood for just one more time.
That's the irony of life.
Sometimes we forget to know and let known that the present is a gift.
For a dreamy future, we all strive
And in the future, we recount of all that we missed.
